TTS panel proposes monitoring devices

https://ift.tt/EmwBzDa The investigation committee established by former premier Shehbaz Sharif to oversee the implementation of the Track and Trace System (TTS) has suggested the installation of monitoring devices at manufacturing facilities in the cement, fertilizer and sugar sectors to keep a check on their production. This proposal has been outlined in a comprehensive report based on the detailed recommendations put forth by the inquiry committee. The report, commissioned by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to assess the implementation of TTS, clarified that the issue at hand did not revolve around counterfeit or smuggled goods in the cement, fertilizer, and sugar industries. Instead, it focused on products being sold without proper payments, necessitating the need for monitoring. The recommendation suggests the installation of monitoring devices to ensure the comprehensive documentation and taxation of the entire production process within these sectors. The committee also identified an area of ambiguity between the FBR and the industry concerning the responsibility for procuring applicator machinery. This matter requires further review and legal opinion to achieve a resolution. Furthermore, the report noted that the value of the Machine-Readable Identification System (MIS) affixed to the product consists of 21 alphanumeric characters, which can only be read through the available app.
