PHC orders Transparency International to republish survey report

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) ordered Transparency International (TI) to republish its annual National Corruption Perception Survey 2023 after including the excluded data and all the public opinion ratios in order to clear any ambiguity for the reader. The PHC chief justice pronounced the judgment, which was reserved on February 19. The previous report had claimed that the judiciary was the third most corrupt institution in Pakistan. The court ordered the TI to publish a factual report and submit it to the Registrar Office by April 24. It should publish all public opinion ratios clearly in the report, leaving no ambiguity for the reader, it added. The chief justice said that the TI should have taken the initiative to correct the National Corruption Perception Survey 2023 report. It stressed that impression of curbs on the freedom of expression should not be taken from the decision, as the court encouraged accurate research, useful for the institutions.
