PR announces 5% freight rate hike

https://ift.tt/Srko4vP Pakistan Railways has announced a 5% increase in freight train fares, effective from December 1 at 12:00 am, as per an official notification. The hike will be uniformly applied across all goods traffic, with exceptions for specific cargo express routes, exempting them from the raised rates. The notification clarified that the 5% increase would not affect the rates for cargo express routes 501Up/502 Dn and 503-Up/504-Dn. However, the total freight will continue to be rounded off as per the previous standard practice. Preparations are underway to furnish a revised goods rates table, detailing calculated rates per ton for distances up to 5000 kilometres.
