Elon Musk claims that Donald Trump “encouraged” him to purchase Twitter?

According to a story, the CEO of Donald Trump's own social networking program, Truth Social, stated that the former president "encouraged" Mr. Musk to purchase Twitter.

Washington: Billionaire internet entrepreneur Elon Musk has dismissed a report by the US daily claiming that former President Donald Trump, who has been permanently banned from Twitter, “encouraged” him to acquire the micro-blogging site. Mr. Musk has dismissed the report as “false.”

According to Devin Nunes, CEO of Donald Trump’s own social media program Truth Social, the former president “encouraged Elon Musk to buy it (Twitter) because someone has to take on these tech tyrants.”

When the story was relayed on Twitter by a US newspaper, Mr. Musk said, “This is false. I have had no communication, directly or indirectly, with [Donald] Trump, who has publicly stated that he will be exclusively on Truth Social”.

Mr. Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion in cash last month. The deal’s wheels started rolling in early April, when Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that he was Twitter’s largest individual stakeholder, with a 9 percent stake in the firm. Soon after, he agreed to join Twitter’s Board of Directors but dropped out within a week of accepting the offer.

Mr. Musk has framed his Twitter agreement as an effort to preserve free expression, accusing the company’s top executives of implausible repression. The SpaceX CEO has yet to properly layout his ambitions for changing Twitter.
